Oh man i feel so guilty now. I just read Mell's blog and aaarghh!!! she wanted to see LOTR with me. I watched it yesterday with my 2 sisters. We were in the theatres for 6 hours and by the end of it my nerves made me snap at my youngest sis. Well i was tired and hungry too but that's besides the point. I should've done some better planning. I rushed to get back from BCIT - reached home at 5.30 - scurried back out the door with the 2 girls in 15 minutes. Waited a freakishly long 15 minutes for the bus to arrive. Moona was in tears cos she thought all the good seats were taken. Well what do u know - she was absolutely right. So we waited for the 9.00pm movie and damm was that a crazy long wait. *sigh* and to think this could've been avoided if i waited for mell. blah. i'm so sorry mell!
I'm so pissed off. at. my. parents. And i feel really guilty too. lol. I wonder if that still counts as being pissed off. I don't wanna leave! I just woke up about an hour ago. I have to leave for bcit at 1.30pm. Between now and then i just wanted to chill and give my computer some lovin. But noooooo i have to go with my parents to get my picture taken for the passport. I tell them i can get one for myself at metrotown. But noooooo they have to be there. aaaaaaaaarrrrrrghhhhhhh!! I don't wanna gooooooo. I am chained to my chair. I am not budging. *hmph*

So now my finals are over, the mindless hours begin. These last 2 weeks have been absolutely CRAZY - in every sense of the word. And the finals have only got 50% to do with it. So now my love life has gotten 100x more complicated. I don't know what i've gotten myself into. Ben, if you're reading this, we had our date today. There was absolutely no problem conversation-wise, i guess we just clicked. But ur advice helped a lot. Thanks =)
So now what? I have no clue. I haven't been in a relationship in nearly 2 years. I am scared sh*# about falling too deep. I know what can happen if I am not careful. All this time i thought the bad-boy was my weakness, but how can a gentleman NOT melt ur heart? aaarghh!!!! And i'm starting to show the usual symptoms - non-stop smiling, hyperness, non-stop daydreaming, missing the company + conversation, inability to sleep.
Mell i am so glad ur staying over this weekend.

Omigollygosh wow. I haven't updated in yonks. Yep i'm lazy.
Thanks Ben and Annes for the visit plus the link. Mell i've linked you - hope you don't mind now. Thank you Annes and Delia for hooking me onto friendster. I shall try to post stuff up now that i'm done checking all 140,667 people in my personal network. Are you kidding me?! of course i didn't! I have time, but not THAT much time. =)
And the randomness begins:
My favorite course = microbio. Yep, i've gone that loca. Favorite bit of microbio = playing with the bacteria. lol. I talk about it like they're toys. Least favorite = lab safety.. I feel bad for Rob, but really that class is so BOW-ring. =( People that work at the pit have labelled me a work-out junkie. surprise surprise. I should show them a tape of the last 2 years of my life.
Fasting is really easy these days. Holloween - i have LOTS of candy in my pantry. Good thing i'm fasting eh? ;) *snort* yea right. I've eaten more than half of my share already. Bwahahaha! I love chocolate. heheh. yum. chocolate. i want.
Need to study. 2 midterms + 2 quizzes + 1 report this week. 2 midterms + 1 quiz + 1 report next week. Isn't this fun? Wine & cheese the week after. My birthday + EID the week after that. My dad arriving in from Brunei the week after that. Much better. Oh but then our finals will have begun too. boo.
Yet, through it all i'm still a zombie. The springy, perky, smiley girl from last year is gone. In its place is miss BRING-IT-ON! lol.
This is fun.
HEL-LO YOU! yes you. lol.

This is how I spent my Friday afternoon yesterday:
Two weeks eh? Yep, LOTS has happened since. Here goes:
I'm gonna go backwards. Yesterday we were done with classes by 11.30am. 2.30 we went to the rec centre for some volleyball, 3-on-3 basketball, cardio (at the gym) and finally the main event: wall climbing! It was me, Nadya, Eva, Stephanie, Ben and Jei for 3 hours on the wall. Lots of cheering, laughter, words of encouragement and feelings of triumph and ecstatic applause after every person reached the top. I went up about 4-5 times. My belayer was awesome - after it all, she told me I had great potential *insert blinking ego-meter* and that I should drop-in every Wednesday between 2.30-4.00pm for the free wall-climbing sessions. Hell yea i'll be there! I think i've found a new passion. And I'm even willing to overlook my aching arms and abdomen.
Thursday - Physio midterm: boy was that a lot of fun *note the sarcasm*. We were all well dead by the second period class. Can you say inexperienced? lol. Ok now i've forgotten the sequence of anything that happened before thursday. So i'm just gonna go freestyle.
We've convinced our second year seniors to join our bowling night. We held a poll and the 25-people group has chosen pizza or sushi as the menu special for the occasion. I think we're so divided on the issue that we'll actually split after the bowling to have our meals and then meet up later. lol. We'll see how it goes.
Still unsure whether we want a hoodie or a bandanna for our official Biotech personalised clothing item. We're thinking of some catchy catchphrase for the front of our hoodie with our favorite numbers at the back or on the edge of the hood. So far we've had chili peppers, cows (!!!) and DNA (boo!) suggested, and the color orange, white or brown as the color. We already have a theme song: "It's getting hot in here" by Nelly (don't ask why. the reason is not what you may think). Official catchphrase is "boss" (again, you'll be better off not wondering why). What can you expect when you throw a bunch of crazy yet extremely socially-motivated (thanks to nadya) people together. Lesley (my microbio and biotechnology prof) says we are one of the most social biotech batches so far. I personally think its great that we all get along so great. I mean, think about it, these are the people we are stuck with for the next 2 years. And it's not like 20 or more people like in high school or grade school - but 10 people. I think we might very well be the smallest graduating class to ever leave BCIT. lol. Gonna graduate to "it's getting hot in here" are we Nadya? lol.
Ok, other things on the card for the Biotech group: a karoake night, halloween party/trick-or-treating/potluck dinner. There's gonna be a wine-&-cheese dinner on November 17 for both years of the Biotech program. It's gonna be a formal networking event where top officials (i.e. CEO's, Presidents, Managers aka prospective employers) from the Biotechnology companies in BC will come together to meet us so we can all mingle and hopefully set the bases for our co-op work term in April. Keep in mind that there are about 30 students in my program (seniors plus us), so we're a pretty small bunch. Every tuesday we're having workshops to groom us on how to dress to impress, how to small talk, the art of schmoozing and so on. But don't be fooled by the "wine" part of the event. It will definitely be served. But I have a friend, Lily, whose on the catering committee and I told her to make sure there are vegetarian and non-alcoholic items on the menu too. The gang knows I can't drink.
Alia's birthday last week. No big party for her this year. Had a few family friends over. And we divided her presents among moona, my mom and myself. lol. Nah. Alia's an artist and our close friends know that. So she got lots of art supplies. The only clothes she got turned out to be too big for her so my mom, moona and I gladly offered to wear it for her. lol.
There was another meeting for the recreation reps a couple of days back. This time it was a social get-together. There were 3 parts to it. First, wall-climbing. This was the second time I went up and it was the motivator behind Nadya and I's requests for yesterday's fun to our group. Second was a turkey shoot! Hooboy! Is it possible to have multiple passions? Cause I think I may have also just developed an infatuation with archery. After Paul showed me the actual way to aim the bow-n-arrow, I hit a mark twice in a row! He invited Nadya and I to join the archery club that meets on saturdays for more practice. I think Nadya and I are actually gonna go. We're weird like that. Can it be the side-by-side lockers.
We have midterms every week. But things are working out. Labs are a blast! I feel like I live in a lab. Sad? Maybe. Happy? Definitely! I love my course. I think I have been truly blessed to have made the right decision so early on in life. It helps to have the support of 9 incredible human beings who respect individuality, difference, religion and culture.
I have to cook now.
p.s. I might have pictures up in my next entry.
p.s.s. Good god that was long.
p.s.s.s. I really REALLY apologize for the vain-ego-filled entry. I'm really not that stuck-up.
SATURDAY, September 20 '03
Grr! Lots of homework. Not fun. Not fun at all. But where in the contract did it say fun was gonna be involved? I chose this, so i have to deal with it. So i guess this is my cue to start whistling and throwing my hat to the wind.
Wednesday was Shinerama/Amazing Race. It was a great day! Not only did our team come in last of our heat (i am NOT being sarcastic either), but we were part of the last race of the day too! So by the time we reached the tent with free food, everything was gone. Can you say boo? So instead they let us snitch as much free chips as we wanted, and that is what we did. heheh. I was sore in the upper body the next day, as was Eva. But its all good. I can't wait to do it again next year. Upcoming friday a group of us are gonna go wall-climbing (like the one up in metrotown). I'm really excited about that. It cost like $3 per person but we managed to score 10 people in our team. So yAy!
Tomorrow looks like a challenging day. I have to teach Alif at 11am. After that i am off to Richmond to join the charity marathon for the Burnaby Muslim Association. I think its 10k. Sometime between that i have to get to BCIT to grab my gym shoes from my locker. Yes, that's how absent-minded i am ladies and gentlemen. The one event where i really need my shoes, and i forget to bring them home from school.
On the school front, everything is fine and dandy. Hmm.. i have new pictures that might be coming soon. I say might be because the Shinerama pictures were taken off Nadya's camera, and my new bedroom pictures (can you say narcissism?) are in alia's disposable camera.
I'm bored. Gotta go start on my lab report! cheerios. (umm.. yum!)
Oooh the Miss America pageant just came on.

A quick hello.
Hello.
FRIDAY, September 12 '03
And it's friday again. I like the weekends. It's the only time to breathe.
Things have been pretty routine lately. A few things that have kept the week bearable. One, I have managed somehow, by the grace of God, to buy all but one of my books, used, from the seniors. That means i saved a bundle from buying them second-hand. I was scared silly that my textbook requirements for this term alone would cost me at least $1000. Well, as it turns out, everything came up to about $350. So i'm a pretty grateful bunny right now. But that's it for moneytalk. I'm pretty pissed off at the issue of money right now.
Last weekend was the big formal dinner at the fancy big banquet hall in Surrey (which shall remain name-less because I forgot it's name). Lots of people. We actually won something from the lucky draw. A DVD. oh joy. Please note the sarcasm. There was lots of food though. Lots of good good food. Another chance for me to pig out. And pig out i did. Unfortunately I got a killer stomachache 15 minutes into my meal. Then I had to physically restrain myself from gorging more food. poo! what a waste.
Yes my muscles are killing me. Haven't done no exercise the last 3 days. I had planned to hit the gym after the lab this afternoon. But thanks to the miracle of irony, I got the flu. Damm vicks didn't help either. I consumed half of the box during physiology. Nadya complained that i reeked of the orangey-smell of vicks. So that was that for the gym plan. On a more exciting note (well for me anyway. i doubt others could care less), we have formed a team for Shinerama! A group of us are gonna join the morning heat, if i'm not mistaken. Shinerama is a fund-raising event held across Canada, participated by all Canadian universities and colleges, for Cystic-Fibrosis research. BCIT does its part through an event called the Amazing Race. It is a team challenge to whiz through the marathon of mazes and clues and quizzes and races. Lots of fun. Plus its for a good cause. Our program has also signed up for the volleyball intramurals. Problem is, most of the gals are held down by their part-time jobs, and Ben doesn't seem to find the prospect of being the only male in the group too appealing. So we have a silly little crisis on our hands too. BUT, i have found a gym-rat partner. (this is where i jump in joy). Nadya and I hit the fit pit (our gym) after classes a few days ago. And i have one thing to say - i love the ladies' locker room. We have our very own sauna! Do you rock? Yes you do. lol. Nadya, Eva and I are officially recreation representatives for our program. In simpler terms, we're now part of the student recreation council. Our first meeting was on Thursday when we were served yummy penne pasta for dinner. lol. Count on me to always think of the food first. Figures.
Being sick on a weekend sucks.
FRIDAY, September 5 '03
Horribly, HORRIBLY busy week. Classes have officially started. My course mates rock! *grin*
There are only nine. Only 9(!!!) people in my course. Can you believe that? Nine. Nueve. This whole program feels exactly like my AS levels in JIS. The same group of people rushing from one class to the next. The same relaxed, informal banter with our professors. Same whining. Only difference is that this time it's rushing from one end of the campus to the other end. And this time, everyone talks with a canadian accent. And have I mentioned my course mates rock? heheh.
Lots of work though. poo!
But finally it's friday. It's friday!
